MOFA Attestation
1. The Pre-Verification Requirement (Absolute Prerequisite)
MOFA does not verify the original authenticity of your credentials from scratch; they verify the stamps of the primary authorities. Your documents must be pre-attested before you can apply:
- Degrees & Transcripts: Must carry a verification stamp from the Higher Education Commission (HEC).
- Matric & Intermediate Certificates: Must be pre-verified by your respective educational board and stamped by the IBCC.
- Personal Documents (Birth/Marriage/Divorce Certificates/FRC): Must be computerized certificates issued by NADRA or your local Union Council.
- Police Character Certificates: Must feature a digitally verifiable QR code issued by the relevant police department.
2. The Step-by-Step Submission Process
MOFA operates on a strict no-walk-in policy without an online booking. You must schedule your application beforehand or utilize an authorized courier.
1.Book an Online Appointment:Online Portal.
Create an account on the official MOFA portal at apostille.mofa.gov.pk. Fill in your personal details, select your document types, and secure an appointment slot at the main office (Islamabad) or regional liaison offices (Lahore, Karachi, Peshawar, Quetta, Gujrat).
2.Select Your Submission Mode:In-Person or Courier.
- Walk-In Appointment: Print your appointment slip and head to the designated office on your scheduled date and time.
- Courier Services: If you want to avoid long lines, drop your documents off at an authorized courier branch (TCS, Leopard, M&P, or Pakistan Post). They handle the backend logistics on your behalf.
3.Submit Documents for Scrutiny:At the Counter / Desk.
Present your original documents to the MOFA intake officer at the center. They will scan your pre-attestations and verify your identity credentials against the central national databases.
4.Processing and QR Stamp Printing:Final Verification.
After processing clearance, the Assistant Consular reviews the digital file. MOFA will print and affix a secure, system-generated Apostille sticker with an integrated QR code directly onto the back of your original document.
Common Pitfalls That Lead to Immediate Rejection
⚠️ Data and Spelling Mismatches: If the spelling of your name or your father’s name differs even by a single letter between your CNIC, Passport, and your educational certificates (e.g., “Muhammad” vs. “Mohammad”), the system database will flag the discrepancy and halt processing.
⚠️ Laminated Documents: MOFA and the automated Apostille printers cannot process laminated certificates. If your degrees or certificates are laminated, you must carefully de-laminate them or secure a duplicate copy from the issuing board/university before attempting submission.
⚠️ Damaged or Overwritten Documents: Certificates with scratched ink seals, deep tears, or manual handwriting modifications over official text are regularly rejected by the data-entry operators.
