Embassy Attestation
An embassy will never verify your documents from scratch. They act as the final link in an official “trust chain.” If your document does not carry the official stamp of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA) Pakistan, an embassy will reject it immediately.
1. The Mandatory Attestation Chain
Before booking an embassy service, your document must pass through its specific prerequisite pipeline:
- Educational Degrees: Must be verified by the Higher Education Commission (HEC) or Inter Boards Coordination Commission (IBCC) first, then stamped by MOFA.
- Personal Documents (Birth/Marriage/Divorce): Must be issued by the Union Council/NADRA, then stamped by MOFA.
2. Shift to Outsourced and Digital Submission Systems
Most major foreign embassies in Pakistan no longer allow walk-in applicants to knock on their doors directly for document submission. To streamline processing, they utilize specialized visa application centers or fully digital e-services.
| Target Country | Mandatory Submission Channel / Mode | Prerequisite Note |
| United Arab Emirates (UAE) | Fully Digital via VFS Global & UAE Pass | All applications are submitted online. VFS handles the physical document collection at your doorstep via courier, resulting in a secure, verifiable e-Attestation. |
| Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA) | Etimad / Tasheer Centers | For Degrees: Must be vetted by the Saudi Cultural Attaché in Islamabad after MOFA before the Saudi Embassy will affix their final stamp. |
| European Countries (Germany, Italy, etc.) | Gerry’s Visa / VFS Global | Often requires an official English or Italian/German translation from an embassy-approved legal translation panel. |
3. General Document Checklist
While country-specific rules vary slightly, the mandatory base requirements include:
- The Original Document: The exact certificate carrying the sharp, legible MOFA stamp and QR code (cannot be laminated).
- Identity Records: Crisp, high-resolution photocopies of the applicant’s valid CNIC and Passport (bio-data page).
- Relationship Verification (For Family Visas): Original NADRA-issued Family Registration Certificate (FRC) if you are attesting documents for dependents or spouses.
- Payment Proof: Copy of the paid visa center service fee or embassy draft invoice.
Common Rejection Pitfalls to Avoid
⚠️ Lamination: If your original degree or marriage certificate is laminated, the embassy cannot affix their security stickers or ink stamps. You must carefully de-laminate the document or obtain a duplicate from the issuing body before starting the process.
⚠️ Name & Data Mismatches: A very common point of failure. If your name or your father’s name is spelled differently on your degree compared to your CNIC or Passport (e.g., “Mohammad” vs “Muhammad”), the embassy backend security portal will flag it and halt processing.
